Bob Christie's creations are expressive studies of form and movement that demonstrate the uniqueness and versatility of wire sculpture. This remarkable art form combines design and structure using a technique that might best be described as “three-dimensional drawing”.

"My goal as an artist is to create pieces that express a sense of freedom, tranquility and whimsy. Bringing texture, form and animation to lifeless raw material is a profound compliment to the creative process."

Bob has explored drawing and painting in watercolour and pastel for over 20 years. Taking a cue from his wife Jane, an accomplished wire jewellery designer, he took a course in wire sculpture and found renewed inspiration and joy of expression.

Pieces are created using cold-formed techniques of twisting and crimping to form various gauges of black utility, brass, copper and nickel silver wire. Works range from the human form, whimsical figures, birds and animals, and can be anything from small indoor accent pieces to oversized garden sculptures.
